Exitoína: The Untold Story
Editorial Design for Verde 70’s Documentary Book
Context & Vision
Exitoína is a comprehensive 260-page editorial masterpiece that documents two decades of Verde 70, one of Ecuador's most iconic rock-pop bands. The project transcends a simple biography, framing the band's journey within the social, cultural, and musical evolution of the country. The vision was to create a definitive collector’s piece that serves as a visual legacy for both the fans and the national music industry.
Design Methodology
The editorial challenge was to integrate a massive volume of narrative content, exclusive interviews, and a vast photographic archive into a fluid visual structure. I developed a versatile graphic system that prioritizes legibility while managing diverse information layers: pull quotes, detailed timelines, concert logs, album art, and press clippings. Each chapter was treated as a distinct era, using specific layout grids and typographic hierarchies to provide depth and rhythm to the 20-year history.
The Solution & Impact
Through meticulous art direction and layout design, the raw content was transformed into an immersive visual and narrative experience. The book not only pays tribute to the band’s trajectory but also sets a high standard for music publishing in the region. Exitoína successfully captures the "spirit of an era," turning two decades of memories into a tangible, high-quality documentary object that remains a benchmark for editorial design in the Ecuadorian cultural scene.
